  • Joey Fitzpatrick

    COACH

Joey started training Jiu-Jitsu in 2017 upon completing his orders overseas for the US Navy. He began his training under Vic Rosati, of Warrior BJJ in Acworth, GA where he received his Blue Belt under Rosati in August of 2018, and continued to train there through 2019. He decided to then transition from the more traditional Gi-based training to a 100% No-Gi training over at 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Atlanta under renowned coach and Eddie Bravo Black Belt, Sean Applegate.

Joey trained under Sean for over four years where he not only sharpened up his traditional fundamentals, but he also took a liking to Sean’s precise leglock mechanics and has since dedicated to himself to learning and striving to perfect this part of his game which has resulted in much success on the competition mats. Joey received his purple belt from Sean in February of 2022, before he relocated from Atlanta to Greenville.

Upon arriving, Joey made an immediate impact by sharing his knowledge from Sean and leg lock arsenal, which has helped to add a new avenue to our student’s and competition team’s game. Joey has also since gone on to competing on some of the biggest stages in the Southeast while representing both 10th Planet Atlanta & 10th Planet Greenville where he has collected wins at promotions such as the National Fighting Championships (NFC), Toro Cup, South East Scramble (S.E.S.), and is the South East Grappling Association’s (S.E.G.A.) Absolute Champion.

In March of 2023, Joey competed in the Newbreed American Cup Absolute Championship, 16-Man Bracket, alongside three Black Belts, one of which who was and is still currently ranked Top-10 in the World according to FloGrappling. Joey went on to submit his way through the bracket, collecting 4 submissions in under 4 minutes of total mat time to take home the championship belt.

When Joey isn’t at the gym training or coaching, he likes to spend time at home with his wife and their three dogs.
